Is Cannabis A Performance-Enhancing Drug? The Question Sports Leagues Got Wrong For Decades.

Most people hear the phrase “performance-enhancing drug” and think of steroids.

Bigger muscles. More strength. More speed. More power.

When considering cannabis vs steroids in sports, the reality is that cannabis doesn’t do any of those things.

Nobody smokes a joint and suddenly adds fifty pounds to their bench press. Nobody takes an edible and runs a faster forty-yard dash.

If that’s our definition of performance enhancement, the answer seems obvious. Cannabis is not a performance-enhancing drug.

But that answer creates another question.
