After my first grow attempt in soil I decided to take Scotty’s advise and use 60% coco coir 20% vermiculite 20% perlite and a tablespoon of grow dots per gallon of pot size. My question is do I start the autoflower seed directly into the mix or do I need to make a hole of just the “soil” without grow dots?

First time grower here, also. I’ve heard its not good to transplant autos. Best to start in its final pot. Maybe make a hole for just soil no nutrients to start her off with.

Thanks for the in-site I’m going to one of each. One directly into coco one in a shot glass of water and one in a paper towel. Experimentation

The experiment went well just not how I imagined. I put one in a shot glass of phd water with a few drops of recharge, one in a paper towel sprayed with the same water with the same recharge placed in a bag. And put one directly in the grow medium with no neuts just a shot glass full of the same water and recharge. The next morning the two had a 1/4” tap root showing so placed them into the grow medium and poured a little of the recharge water over and all three seeds popped out of the soil be next day. 1

I grow auto’s and I always start them in a paper towel and then put them in their forever home.

Well experiment over….. all three seeds rooted and have emerged from the grow medium I started each one on the same day. The one I planted directly came up the day before the other two but today they are all the same height and look good! Thanks again for everyone’s feed back!!!
